History

FRIEDRICH KOCKS GmbH & Co KG with headquarters in Hilden / Germany was founded by Dr.-Ing., Dr.-Ing. e.h. Friedrich H. Kocks. Right from the start the company took a totally new approach in the design of tube, bar and wire rod rolling mills. These innovations set completely new standards and earned KOCKS the highest reputation worldwide.

The first tube Stretch Reducing Mill as developed by KOCKS was built in 1950. This design, suitable for the rolling of both seamless and welded tubes, was continually improved throughout the years to this day. At this time, the result of these innovations is the 3-roll stretch reducing block with individually driven rolls.

Also in the area of rod and bar rolling mills, KOCKS fully exploits the physical and geometrical advantages as gained from rolling in three rolls. The first rolling block of this kind for industrial use was built in 1955. Here again, continuous improvements in the design have been made over the years as dictated by the ever changing market requirements. KOCKS offers intermediate and finishing blocks of this design complemented by the now famous Reducing & Sizing Block. This technology not only assures closest product finishing tolerances, but - at the same time - increases the economics of rod and bar production due to maximum mill availability.
